The Urge for Dependency and Control

How do we reconcile the paradox that most know that the federal government is out of control, yet support the programs that are driving it out of control? -Star Parker

Could it be that we were given no option to opt out of a program that we opposed, and now that our earned income has been confiscated for the past 40 years we expect to see some return. The socialist premise is that we the people are unable to take care of ourselves so they create dependency where none existed. But the socialist state is without integrity and lawless and so cannot be trusted. Our contributions have been used like a tax. They are spent and we have nothing except the promise of the new statists to fulfill the lies of those who are dead.

This scenario has been played out before as in the children of Israel from the time of Joseph to Moses. When Moses led them out of Egypt into the realities of freedom and independence, it was not long until they longed to return to Egypt. In a few generations they had gone from free and independent men to living as slaves until some were comfortable in their dependency.

What is the origin of the urge for dependency? And what is the origin of the urge to control other people? Since they depend on one another, do they not have the same origin?
