“Since the Enlightenment, the secular world has had to believe in man (or "humanity") because if you don't believe in God and you don't believe in humanity, you will despair.” –Dennis Prager
The secular world exchanges reality for one of there own making not only in their view of man, but also in their view of the world. Rejecting Genesis as mythology cuts them off from the proper view of man…
Although he was created in the image of God and part of the creation that God declared as ‘very good’ [Genesis 1:31], he and the rest of mankind fell under the curse of sin that includes suffering and death [Genesis 3]. The world as created is broken because of man’s sin and remains broken because of man’s sin problem. For man to declare that he is basically good and then try to fix himself apart from the self-revealed God is sad because it reveals his innate depravity.
Not only are the ideas of sin and moral guilt rejected, but accountability and punishment are seen as remnants of the times of ignorance when men actually believed the Bible. When the notion of sin and punishment is rejected, then it follows that good works and rewards will also fall from favor. Can’t we all see how much better off man is today since the so called Enlightenment has freed us from Biblical Theology?
Modern liberalism reflects the depravity of man, revealing what man becomes when he suppresses the knowledge of God. In Romans 1 it is written that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against such men in giving them over to the fruits of their own sins.
